The Story of Ralph and the Cannabis Industry
First off, the important thing you should know is that hemp oil and hemp based products are not Marijuana. What CBD oil and Marijuana have in common is that they originate from Cannabis sativa. But the plants themselves are different. CBD oil (also known as Hemp oil), is from industrial hemp plants selected to be low in THC, while medical and recreational marijuana is from plants selected for increased THC content, the compound that causes a “high”. By law, hemp oil cannot contain any significant amounts of THC.
I would also like to let you know that I have a unique take on CBD oil and the Cannabis industry. I developed an interest in the Cannabis industry by sheer coincidence and, quite frankly, didn’t really know anything about it until I started auditing Cannabis laboratories that do analytical testing on the various products that are now available.
You see, in addition to being a writer, I am also a Quality Assurance Consultant and a certified laboratory auditor for an accreditation services under an international quality standard known as ISO/IEC 17025. My focus has been in the food and drug industry and have been doing this for many years. The accreditation company I do these assessments with is a worldwide company that takes on Laboratories in many industries including the FDA.
In the past few years, this accreditation company has decided to get into the Cannabis industry as well because individual States within the US now require Cannabis laboratories to become accredited to this ISO/IEC 17025 quality standard, just like the FDA is required to, and now that it is legal, much research is being done with Cannabis and CBD related products.
So, just like we want to ensure that FDA laboratories are testing for toxins, pesticides and other harmful chemicals in the foods we eat, we now want to ensure that Cannabis laboratories are testing for these same harmful chemicals in Cannabis and that the growers are growing “clean” cannabis as well.
They also analyze CBD and other hemp based products to test the quality and safety of the products. They get test results on Cannibinoid content, THC levels, and other important metrics to test the quality of the product and then issue reports based on their findings.
The Farm Bill of 2018
Since the Farm Bill of 2018 has been signed, hemp based CBD oil as well as other hemp based products, are now legal in all the states in the US.
For years, both researchers and patients have experienced amazing benefits from CBD oil for everything from reducing seizures to stopping tumors. But until recently, the regulatory environment for CBD oil was unfriendly, to say the least, so many people would have benefited from the science and real-world results would not. Now they can.
I have decided to try CBD oil because I had some sleep issues as well as some lower back pain. I wouldn’t have tried it prior to these events because there was question of their legality and I keep a straight path so that my family can look up to me with respect.
